Salamander Warrior Bust

Continuing my journey on learning to paint minis with this Salamander Warrior bust I found on Etsy shop TheWonderEmporiumGB.

Some thoughts:

I like the variation in green tones on the skin and the eyes came out pretty cool too, although both could be better. I also like the blood splattered/dirtied and aged look on the brass coloured armour along with the textured look of the leather and sword elements.

Planning to work on finishes going forward, I added some glossiness to the eyes to give them a wet look and the wounds on the face making them look somewhat fresh but I think the skin could’ve used some form of gloss or satin finish to give a more realistic mottled wet look. The armour could’ve used more tones also, maybe starting with a darker brass colour and using a lighter one for highlights. I think the skin colour is too obvious too, if I was to paint another of these busts (which I may well do) I might try a red/pink or maybe blue/pink scheme for the skin.

Overall pretty happy with it though, think it shows improvement for sure 😁
